THE 48-HOUR SPRINT

Before You Go — The 48-Hour Sprint

Two days, one venue, and a room full of people who hire, brief and judge work. You don't need weeks of prep. You need a sharp 48 hours.

1

Define Your One Sentence

Most people here will introduce themselves by job title. Don't. Lead with what you're known for and where you're heading.

Your Positioning

"I'm a [Your Role] with [X] years across [Your Markets/Platforms]. I specialise in [Your Specialism], and right now I'm [what you're building or looking for]."

Say it out loud five times tonight. At a local summit, half the room may already know your employer. Your sentence is what makes them remember you.

2

Tighten Your LinkedIn Before You Walk In

  • Headline: role + specialism + direction, e.g. "[Your Role] | [Your Specialism] | Sri Lanka → Global"
  • Featured section: pin 2–3 results with real numbers, your portfolio link and your creator profiles
  • About: who you are, results rather than tasks, what you're open to
  • Save your LinkedIn QR code to your phone's lock screen or favourites
  • Post a short note the day before: say you're attending, which sessions you've picked, and add a clear ask ("If you're there, come say hi at the Networking Lunch")
3

Build a Hit List, Not a Wish List

The speaker line-up includes TikTok, Publicis Groupe, DEPT®, Landor, MullenLowe MENA, Leo Burnett India, Visa, Tripadvisor, Swiggy, LIONS Asia and ADFEST. Pick five people at most, grouped by your goal:

  • Global agency careers: Vishnu Mohan (Partner & CEO APAC, DEPT®), Laurent Thevenet (Head of Creative Tech APAC, Publicis Groupe), Prerna Mehra (ECD, MullenLowe MENA), Geet Nazir & Ronita Mukerjee (Landor India)
  • Platforms & performance: Farah Mehdi, Kerem Gorkem Orhan and Zeerak Zubdah (TikTok). Zeerak's remit covers Sri Lanka.
  • Creator economy: Danny Advani (Dot Media), Naved Qureshi (Voxxy Media), Shivanand Lalwani (Adsto)
  • Creative excellence & awards: Melanie Speet (LIONS Asia), Kem Suraphongchai (ADFEST), Himanish Ashar (Leo Burnett India)

For each person, note one piece of their work you have a genuine view on. That's your opener.

Pro tip: Follow them tonight, but don't connect yet. Connect after you've spoken, with a note that references the conversation.
4

Map Your Clashes Now

On both afternoons, sessions split across four rooms: Main Stage (Grand Ballroom), Breakout Room 1 (The Eagle), Breakout Room 2 (Albatross) and Breakout Room 3 (The Gym, Fiftykay Orchids). Workshops are smaller rooms, and smaller rooms are where speakers remember your question. Decide your picks tonight so you're not deciding in the corridor.

The official agenda is marked tentative. Recheck dmaslsummit.com/agenda each morning.

5

Plan Your Content, Platform by Platform

  • LinkedIn: one post a day at most. Open with context (the session and who said it), then give your take, then end with a question or ask.
  • Instagram Stories: real-time and lo-fi. Show slides, the venue and your notes, and tag speakers and DMASL.
  • TikTok & Reels: capture raw B-roll now (arrival, stage, notebook, waterside) and edit later. Don't cut and post between sessions.
  • Check DMASL's socials for the official event hashtag and use theirs. Don't invent one.
6

Practical Logistics

  • Venue: Water's Edge, 316 Ethul Kotte Rd, Battaramulla
  • Day 01 registration opens at 08:00 with morning networking. Arrive early, because the first hour is the easiest networking of the day.
  • Both evenings run late: Night Summit on Day 01 (18:30–21:30) and Summit Social on Day 02 (from 18:30). Plan your ride home.
  • Early October in Colombo can bring afternoon showers. Pack a compact umbrella.
In Short
TWO DAYS DECIDE NOTHING.
THE SEVENTY-TWO HOURS AFTER DO.
